KITAJI NDOTO YETU INITIATIVE ( K N Y I )is a children , youth and community driven Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) based in Musoma town of Mara Region in Tanzania. The word“Kitaji” is derived from a name of a ward in Musoma Municipal Town and also for a never-drying water dam in the area. “Ndoto Yetu” on the other hand is a Swahili phrase for “öur dream”. KNYI was founded and started its operations in 2020 as an unregistered group of few individuals committed to alleviating harsh living conditions of the underprivileged members of the society including children, youths and women. KNYI was finally and officially registered as a national NGO in 2022 with registration number 00NGO/R/4083. In this capacity, Kitaji Ndoto Yetu Initiative (KNYI) applies the power of sports ton promote environmental conservation, children and youth rights.
KNYI has ever since schemed its own philosophy of “Sports for Conservation, Rights and Development” that shapes its outlook and guides all its operations. KNYI’s “sports-for-all” implementation approach suits and encompasses people of all ages with rights who can participate in development realms including environmental conservation. Sustainable participatory programs are targeted to extend and cover other Lake Victoria Zone Regions of Mwanza and Kagera and gradually spread across Tanzania.
